HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE PROVERBS
Most of the proverbs were written in paired verses, and we find three types:
CONTRAST
The meaning and application are found in the differences or contrast between the verses of the proverb.

COMPARATIVE
The meaning and application are found in the similarities or the comparison between the verses of the proverb.
Keywords: "as" "better than" "as well as"
Examples 10:26; 15:17; 22: 7
COMPLEMENTARY
Meaning and application are found in the way the second verse completes the first.
Keyword: “and” Examples 14: 10,17; 23: 22
SCHEME
A. WISDOM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Solomon instructed the young men of his day as a father counsels his son. Although many of these proverbs are directed at young people, the underlying principles are useful to all believers, whether they are men or women, young or old. Anyone beginning their journey in search of wisdom will greatly benefit from these wise advice.
B. WISDOM FOR ALL
Regardless of age, gender or social position of people. Solomon wanted to impart wisdom to everything. These short and wise sayings provide us with practical wisdom for everyday life. We must study them diligently and apply them to our lives.
C. WISDOM FOR LEADERS
Although most of the proverbs are of a general nature, many are directed specifically to the king and to those who dealt with him. These proverbs are especially helpful for those who are leaders or aspire to become leaders.
